Enjoy the Tropical Vacation of Your Dreams on Grand Cayman

A visit to Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands is like a trip to paradise. Surrounded by the beautiful Caribbean Sea, you'll enjoy terrific beaches, exceptional dining and a warm and relaxing tropical atmosphere.

Grand Cayman Hotels and Resorts

Whether you have a luxury resort or modest hotel accommodations in mind, you can find whatever you are looking for in Grand Cayman. Enjoy the deluxe standards and amenities at Grand Cayman's finest resorts and hotels along the famous Seven Mile Beach. The Westin Casuarina Resort and Spa is nothing short of a tropical Paradise and features luxury rooms with balconies and outstanding views of the ocean or the island. Relax in the swim-up pool bar or visit one of the five restaurants and lounges the Westin Casuarina features.

Another option is the Beach Club Colony all-inclusive resort. This is a Georgian Caribbean style resort right on the beach with tons of character. You can enjoy water sports of all types, play volleyball, take a bicycle tour or enjoy a dinner cruise. You will know you are someplace special at the Beach Club Colony, and if offers more Grand Cayman ambience than large chain hotel and resort options.

Less elaborate, more budget-oriented accommodations are also available throughout Grand Cayman. Simply pick an area where you'd like to spend some time and choose a comfortable, clean alternative to the high-priced beachfront resorts. You'll enjoy a convenient location, terrific service and easy access to restaurants, bars, beach recreation and other Grand Cayman attractions.

Drinking and Dining in New Cayman

For breakfast, lunch, dinner or snacks, you can choose from over 150 restaurants on Grand Cayman. Everything is available, from pizza and hamburger fast-food places to sit-down dining establishments and jerk chicken stands. You can enjoy almost any type of food in Grand Cayman, but fresh seafood is a specialty you won't want to miss.

When you're ready to enjoy a delicious fresh meal, visit the Cracked Conch restaurant on the waterfront at the top of Grand Cayman. You can dine outdoors and enjoy a seaside view or eat indoors in the elegant dining area. You can relax in their cocktail lounge before or after your meal, as well. The Cracked Conch offers an extensive lunch menu, dinner menu, and a wine list designed to compliment your meal perfectly.

A leisurely meal and a few after dinner drinks at your restaurant's lounge is the ideal way to spend a night out in Grand Cayman. Many restaurants in Grand Cayman feature bars, pubs or cocktail lounges for your convenience. There are several dance clubs in Grand Cayman, but in general, nightlife tends to end by 1:00 a.m. You can enjoy live music at a variety of bars and venues. Pick up a copy of the weekly Cayman Compass to preview the possibilities during your stay. You can also find out what's on in terms of performing arts at The Harquail Theatre.

Grand Cayman Attractions

Grand Cayman features incredibly beautiful beaches and terrific opportunities to enjoy water sports and recreational activities. Whether you like to fish, sail, snorkel, or just swim, you'll have plenty of opportunities to pursue your sport on Grand Cayman.

Away from the beach, there are plenty of other fun activities and unique attractions to enjoy on Grand Cayman, including some impressive and intriguing historical sites. The Cayman Turtle Farm is a popular attraction both children and adults will enjoy. This eco-sensitive green sea-turtle farm exists to both replenish the endangered population of sea turtles and provide edible turtle meat to the local market to prevent hunting. You can see turtles at all stages of development, from 6 ounces up to 600 pounds.

The Cayman Islands National Museum is another great attraction on Grand Cayman. This Museum focuses on researching, preserving and sharing Caymanian heritage and includes many interesting exhibits and activities. The Natural History and Cultural History exhibits are particularly interesting, as is an exhibit dedicated to the museum's building itself. The Museum is housed in the Old Courts Building, a 19th century structure that has remained standing for 150 years, despite hurricanes. The fascinating story of this building is featured in one of the Museum's exhibits.

Visit the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park for an outdoors introduction to Grand Cayman's natural environment. Stroll through everything from swamp and wetland areas to dry thicket and mahogany-tree stands in this 60-acre park, and see orchids and bromeliads growing in their natural setting. You will also have the opportunity to spot wildlife, such as freshwater turtles called chickatees, the rare Grand Cayman parrot, anole lizards and even the endangered blue iguana. There is also a re-creation of a traditional Cayman farm on site, including a house and garden containing flowers and a small lake.

Getting Around Grand Cayman

Although there is a public minibus service available on Grand Cayman, it is not the most convenient to access. Taxis are available, particularly around George Town, but availability varies outside of this main area. Many people rent cars to get around Grand Cayman, and although driving is on the left hand side of the road, drivers tend to be courteous. You can also rent a moped or scooter. To travel from Grand Cayman to the sister islands, plan to travel by air.
